- Shower panels are fitted using the special panel adhesive in
conjunction with internal corner profiles. First check that the
walls are clean and true to ensure a good bond. The Clean sawn
edges of the panels will fit into the corner profile leaving
the finished edges exposed.
- The first Panel to be fitted is the one that will have the
shower controls on. With the Shower Tray already in place cut
this panel to the correct height remembering to allow a 3mm gap
to seal the panel to the Shower Tray later. Cut to width from
the clean sawn edge. Mark out and cut any holes necessary for
the connection of the pipe work/electrics.
- Before bonding the panel in place cut the Internal corner profile
to the same height as the panel and use silicone sealant to stick
it to the cut edge of the panel. Offer up the panel complete
with corner profile and ensure that the corner profile is plumb
making any necessary adjustments before the silicone cures. Bond
this panel into position using the special panel adhesive.
- Cut the next panel to height and then width using the same
method. Before bonding the panel into place apply a bead of silicone
sealant into the corner profile, insert the sawn edge into the
profile and swing into position. Clean off any excess sealant
once fitted.
-
Fit the Shower enclosure then seal around all edges. Allow
24 hours for sealant to cure before connecting the Shower unit.
| CUTTING TIPS
Cut the panels face side down when using a jigsaw or electric
saw and face up when using a hand saw.
Applying masking tape on the surface where the panel is
to be cut will reduce chipping. |
|
- Wall panels are generally fixed with no. 6 countersunk screws
through the back shoulder of the grooved side of the panel. The
tongue of the next panel to be fitted covers the screw heads
and when butted together and sealed with colour matched sealant
the join is waterproof and virtually invisible.
- The walls must be square, dry and clean before panelling commences.
Block, Brick or Rendered walls should be fitted with 50 x 25mm
treated softwood battens at no more than 600mm Horizontal centres
and packed where necessary so that they align. Panels can usually
be fitted directly to Dry Lined walls providing suitable plugs
are used.
- Start by fixing an Internal Corner Profile in the corner furthest
from the door then fit the first panel tongued edge first into
the profile, check that it is plumb then screw the grooved edge
to the wall / battens. Remove the film protection and check for
any surface defects or blemishes before fitting the next panel.
- Apply a bead of colour matched sealant to the tongue of the
next panel, insert into the groove of the previous panel and
fix using the same method. Any excess sealant may be removed
with a damp cloth. Always remove the film protection and check
for defects before fitting the next panel. Continue fitting the
panels in both directions.
- When the next corner is reached cut the panel to fit, stick
the corner profile to the cut edge and swing into position. Fix
the corner profile onto the next wall and continue as before.
- Aim to finish centrally over the door. Remove the groove from
the final panel and the panel that it will butt against leaving
clean sawn edges. Swing these last panels into position and bond
to the wall or battens using panel adhesive. Surface fixings
may be permissible if the Door Architrave will later cover them.
|
The film protection should be removed after fitting each panel, and the
panel inspected before continuing. Defective panels will be replaced, however
no claims will be entertained for the fitting of subsequent panels if this
procedure is not carried out. This guide is given in good faith but neither
the Manufacturer nor supplier can accept any responsibility for the finished
results.
